Halloween is a great seasonal event and I had to snicker to myself this morning when Collegiate Pacific Inc showed up in my list of potential Head and Shoulders chart patterns. Why is that even remotely funny?
Because their stock symbol is BOO - what could be more appropriate? How about:
WTCH is the symbol for Wastech, Inc., a penny stock that looks very scary.
The werewolf is a Halloween mainstay, so the Great Wolf Resorts, Inc. symbol WOLF is on the list.
Dunking for AAPLs - Apple Computer, Inc.

There are a ton of analytical engines and data capture for looking at your web visitors. I use a couple here to look at the Apache logs as well as the actual activity of users using the site. I can’t remember where I found it, but a beta system called Quantcast is doing some interesting demographic analysis of visitors. Like many of the web analytics systems, you get some JavaScript to put on all your pages. When a user - an actual living human, not a bot - interacts with the site, the JavaScript captures information and send it back to Quantcast. Okay, so I only put this on DeepMarket a week or so ago, but it is fun to look at the demographics of my users so far - I made DeepMarket’s demographic profile public. Wow - it looks like a lot of childless and rich people visit DeepMarket. Hmmmmm…

The Q awards are taking place today, I just wanted to blog about it to wish good luck to one of my favorite bands, Snow Patrol. Snow Patrol has their single Chasing Cars nominated for the event. Chasing Cars has been a hit in the UK and the US, plus it’s a great song so best of luck to Snow Patrol and their awesome song.

So far - this year has not been the poster child for the Halloween Rally pattern I pointed out. Last week had been a strong week already, so by the end of the week the markets were taking a rest - towards the downside. Let’s keep a watch on the opening prices on Monday, Oct 30th and see if there is a rally over the rest of this week. Buying at the open of Oct 30th and selling at the close five trading days later has shown an average of 2.83% rise in prices. Okay, so buy at the open on Monday and sell on the close Friday -> remember, for fun! I doubt this is a pattern that you can really trade - but it is interesting to look for these patterns.
