Chris Pirillo Effect - The Joe Anderson Effect
Posted on: March 9, 2006 @ 12:28 pm by Administrator.
This is an old story, but there is the semi-urban legend that if you mention Chris Pirillo in a blog posting, he will come and post a comment on your blog. This was known as the Chris Pirillo Effect, but the effectiveness of the CPE seems to have degraded over the last year. What the heck - it is worth a try.
However, Joe Anderson seems to want to replace Chris with his own Joe Anderson Effect. Joe writes the Webby’s World blog which is “about technology. It is generally focused on cool websites, hacks, piracy (and ethics) and open-source. Also, there’s quite a bit about the Mozilla programs and Mozilla spirit.”
EDIT
Well, someone claiming to be Chris Pirillo stopped by and posted a comment. Since I am feeling like “the cup is half full and not half empty” today, I am going to assume it was Chris - Thanks Chris! Sorry for doubting the power of the CPE…
Golly, how I miss TechTV!

I’m more familiar with the Mentifex aka Arthur T. Murray effect, but in this case usually all it takes it saying something related to AI

Great post; great site. I tried to comment that sentiment on blogexplosion but for some reason I couldn’t. I had no idea that there was such a thing as the Chris Perillo effect or the Joe Anderson effect. Thanks for telling all of us about that. I’m going to try that; and of course I will give proper attribution to your site as the source for finding out about this. I miss TechTv too; however, Gnomedex is really cool. I guess there are always trade-offs.

It worked on my blog. I wonder if our IP’s match up :) Both comments are Chris eh? Or does he hire minions to go around and say things to each comment…hmm…minions!

I have heard of the CPE but haven’t tried it on my own blog. I’m glad it worked for you.

That’s actually pretty funny. Never heard of either guy before, so I never mentioned them.
Will Chris show up if I stare in the mirror and say his name over and over, too?:)

I did indeed try it. Nothing yet…

Genius; you beckoned and they came, like hungry dogs. I suppose it doesn’t really matter if they really are the real Chris Pirillos or Joe Andersons…

I am going to try the Chris Perillo thing. I need all the comments I can get.

That’s cool about Chris Pirillo. I’m going to have to try that. I listen to Chris and Patrick Norton religiously on dl.tv.
