Predictive Analytics

I wanted to point to the Predictive Analytics World website, where you can sign up for Predictive Analytics World in Washington DC October 20-21, 2009. Use the code BLOGDEEPDC09 to get a discount. Luckily, I am just down the road in Fairfax, VA. However, reality is unjust and I am not sure if I will be able to make it or not. My day job is transitioning from pure business intelligence to cloud computing (which does include predictive analytics and data mining), so I am not 100% certain if I will be there.

Predictive Analytics World is the business-focused event for predictive analytics professionals, managers and commercial practitioners. This conference delivers case studies, expertise and resources to achieve:

* Bigger wins: Strengthen the impact of predictive analytics deployment

* Broader capabilities: Establish new opportunities with predictive analytics

The Top Experts
PAW’s October 2009 program is packed with the top predictive analytics experts, practitioners, authors and business thought leaders.

Be sure to check out the Predictive Analytics World Blog Partners (I imagine the list will continue to grow):

* Decisionstats.com Blog on R, SAS, Interviews with data mining and developments in internet and analytics. Check the many, many interviews published on this site. Where does he get all the time to do these interviews? Not to mention the technical discussions of things like R and Hadoop – nice!

* JT on EDM: James Taylor covers every aspect of Decision Management – from business rules to data mining, adaptive control to predictive analytics. Product news, best practices, usage scenarios and more. James is also running a workshop at PAW called “Putting Predictive Analytics to Work.” If you are looking for business intelligence fluff, then skip this blog. He goes to the source, like this article about SPSS and IBM collaborating in the predictive analytics world by connecting Cognos and SPSS tools. This post about policy visualization made my little programmer’s brain hurt.

Don’t even try to compare these two blogs to DeepMarket – I trail them both by several miles on quality content. Alas, such is the lot of a programmer – I like to wrestle with the data and make it scream, but hate writing about it.
