I struck out with Prosper this morning on a loan to replace an AC unit (not a problem now, it is a wonderful 70 degrees today!). On a recommendation, I took a look at the LendingClub. Well, the LendingClub hardly let me in the door. They pretty much took a cursory look at my credit score and found out where I lived - thus discovering that I was in a state that limited my interest rate to 11% - and turned me down at that point. The LendingClub does look like a more interesting prospect from an investor’s perspective. There is also Loanio opening soon, but I anticipate the same problems with them. Well, the weather is getting cooler, so there is no rush to get the air conditioning replaced, but I don’t want to wait too long - if I do, no doubt I will wait until that 100 degree day in April 2008!
