Google Earnings – $5.10

Google earnings beat the street estimate of $4.95 per share by coming in at $5.10 a share. Keeping costs under control, they only hired 99 people in the last quarter. I think in today’s environment, beating estimates can be seen as “crushing” the estimates…
Score card for tech leaders:
Google – Crush
Apple – Crush
IBM – [...]

Penny Stocks

Timothy Sykes turned $12,000 into $2 million in four years, lost 1/3 of it, starred in the hit TV show Wall Street Warriors and is now committed to teaching everyone, finance freaks and normal people alike, to profit from the world’s trashiest stocks, penny stocks through his publishing company BullShip Press, LLC (seriously).
This is [...]

Stock correlations being run, so the correlation areas for stocks will be blank and filled in slowly over the next several hours.
For instance, this is what you would see if you visited the correlation page for my favorite ETF – SRS:

Firefox Extension for StockTwits

I am on the outside looking in with StockTwits, as I don’t have a Twitter account. StockTwits now has a Firefox add-on which:

Install our Firefox extension and magically turn StockTwits tagged tickers on twitter.com into links back to stocktwits.com so you can easily catch up with the latest conversations.
I do enjoy watching the stream [...]

Tracking Fast Moving Markets with newsflashr

The markets are crazy insane again today. They don’t have the same doom and gloom feeling as Monday’s toppling, but it is a negative market – Dow is down about 350 five minutes before the closing bell.
The future of the economy in the US, as well as the rest of the world, is dependent [...]

Inner8 – More Social Stock Picking

Inner8 launched a semi-closed beta last week. Luckily, I found an early access invite code for Inner8 and signed up.
Only Inner8 brings together high-performing investors and provides them with advanced analytic tools to deliver the next generation of investment advice.
The social stock picking field is interesting from one perspective, but I have never [...]

Google Earnings after the Bell

Google (symbol GOOG) will be announcing earnings today after the closing bell. The economy is clearly in a slowdown, but how will it affect Google’s earnings? Remember, they are an advertising company and in a downturn, many businesses begin to pull back their spending on advertising. Not to say this is what [...]

In Step with Mutual Fund Managers

Although the influence of the individual investor has grown a great deal in the past several decades, the institutional trader still rules the markets and controls the ultimate destiny for many of the exchange traded stocks. How useful would it be to know which stocks a mutual fund manager is moving money into or [...]

More Web 2.0 Stock Sites

I was over at Killer Startups – a site that has really taken off in the past couple of weeks – browsing many of the new Web 2.0 players for anything stock market related and stumbled on these:
Stock Cloud is an interesting data mining or data visualization experiment – they describe it as a
tag cloud [...]

WU on WallStrip

WallStrip does Western Union (WU) – golly Lindsay has a cute “western” accent!

BOO and other Halloween Stock Symbols

Halloween is a great seasonal event and I had to snicker to myself this morning when Collegiate Pacific Inc showed up in my list of potential Head and Shoulders chart patterns. Why is that even remotely funny?
Because their stock symbol is BOO – what could be more appropriate? How about:
WTCH is the symbol [...]

WallStrip HOG

What does Pee Wee + HOG + Cute Hostess equal?
WallStrip does Harley-Davidson, Inc. (HOG).
I am finding WallStrip to be an important part of my day – it still ain’t WallStreetWeek with Louis, but fun.
