We have the program working with Carbonfund.org to help offset carbon emissions, but the Carbonfund.org team pointed me to another program that is substantially more exciting. This program will offset enough carbon to make the average US citizen “carbon neutral” for a year.

Now, this is an interesting story - where the interests of DeepMarket and the creator of a foundation are parallel in two respects. Hal Hinkle worked on Wall Street for 22 years and recently sold his company, BrokerTec, to another brokering firm - ICAP. Starting to see a slight parallel? (Well, at least in interests - not in success…) Mr. Hinkle created the Hinkle Charitable Foundation and one of his main interests is Global Warming.

You might even say “concerned”. He is moving in a positive direction with a challenge - very simply, read “six email reports and he will make a $100 carbon offset contribution in your name.” At Carbonfund.org, $100 is enough to offset about 24 tons of CO2. This effectively makes you Carbon Neutral for a year. He is actually supporting three different organizations that work in a similar fashion that Carbonfund.org works, but you have a choice of which one to choose.

Golly - that is almost as easy as my challenge, but you might learn something and become CO2 neutral for 2006 - certainly worth a minute of your time!
