Carbon Trading and the new Treasury Secretary
Henry Paulson has been nominated to replace Secretary Snow at the Treasury Department - perhaps an interesting turn of events for the trading of carbon credits in the US. Mr. Paulson has been the CEO of Goldman Sachs for about eight years - he understands how markets work. He is also - oddly enough - a staunch environmentalist who believes in the Kyoto Protocol and its potential impact on climate change. This curious syncronicity of being the CEO of one of the most powerful Wall Street firms and the chairman of the Nature Conservancy - the largest non-profit environmentalist group - has the potential for really putting carbon trading into the spotlight.
