Ideas - Cambrian House - Dog Days of Summer Edition

Sorting through 101 ideas this week over at Cambrian House and pulling out the most interesting - at least to me - of the bunch:

Rain Harvester - a BIG idea, but very interesting. With the potential of “Water Wars” - fighting over fresh water - in the near future, this is certainly something to think about. I think that the lack of usable water is the greatest challenge for humans in the next century.

Multi-dimensional idea ratings - Cambrian House has a single dimensional rating - 1 to 5 stars. This idea breaks out the idea rating into more digestible parts - making it easier for “good” ideas that are difficult to implement a better chance than easy to implement stupid ideas.

Market for the Masses
- I know it has been done to death, but it is always fun to see alternatives. Yet another idea for a “casino” that lets you bet on stocks.

Advertising-eateries - Like TV - advertising supported food. Eat for free while watching advertisements.

Peer to Peer Cell Phone Network - an badly named idea - it should be “Mobile” phone network. The idea is to actually take the “cell” out of the picture. This is also know as mesh networks and a lot of thought has been put into it for things like first responders in areas where cell towers and infrastructure has been decimated (think hurricane or even a nuked city).

5 out of 100, so about 5% are interesting ideas. Not too bad. One guy posted about 10 “movie script” ideas.
