There is Inflation - then there is Inflation

Will the Fed go another 25 basis points in October? Or is 50 enough for the near future? Tomorrow morning the latest inflation rate will be released. The government metrics for inflation seems to be a bit 19th and 20th century. When was the last time you saw an iPod or cell phone go UP in price? Granted, gasoline and other oil by products are much more expensive - which ultimately has an effect on the price of anything and everything transported to the consumer. What about the one thing that people spend a large percentage of their income on? Housing. The prices of houses are deflating now. How is it that the Fed can be so concerned about inflation - they actually made a statement about inflation as part of the rate cut announcement - when in actuality inflation most likely is not affecting most people. Health care - yes, inflation there, but that is a result of increased demand, not the printing of money by the government.
