Although we are still officially in summer, today was a crisp 68 degree day and it got me to thinking about Halloween costumes. The sun was out in full force, but the temperature really caused me to begin anticipating the change in season to Fall. For me, the climax of the Fall season is Halloween – my favorite holiday and favorite season. Mind you, it has been a while since I dressed up for Halloween, but I just love the energy surrounding Halloween.

What is it about Halloween? It is kind of fun to step out of our modern nature of disbelief and place ourselves into the 13th century mindset of superstitions an don appropriate Halloween costumes to scare away the hobgoblins on All Hallows Eve.

Intertwined with the mysticism of Halloween is the good natured “Trick or Treat” playfulness afforded to children. Masquerading as horrible creatures or their favorite super hero, they go out searching, hunting and gathering candy.
