Squirrel Living in Master Bedroom

I think a squirrel is living in my master bedroom.

I have a three story townhouse - four bedrooms - three on the top floor, including the master bedroom, and I live in the bedroom in the basement. It is a really nice house, but I work a lot and the maintenance has taken a back seat to other activities - like eating a sleeping with an occasional shower mixed in between. So, the upstairs - especially the master bedroom - has been vacant about 50% of the time. Over the past four or five years I have had a roommate - often here only for a while before moving on to something more permanent. I thought the space was vacant now - at least I had not been collecting rent, but sometimes I hear a ruckus up in the master bedroom - yet no one is there.

No occupants - or are there? I think it is a squirrel. Don’t get me wrong - I like squirrels, but I don’t need one living in my upstairs. What I really need is a new roommate who is willing to pay rent, not leave some acorns on my front steps every couple of weeks. You can see in the photo that the room doesn’t look all that bad. Not bad at all.

So much potentialThen there is the master bath. This bathroom is huge and uncared for and it is all my fault. The tiles are falling off in the shower. The wallpaper should be replaced. The mirrors are dirty and smudged. Roommates (all male in this case) are not always the best at keeping bathrooms clean. This bathroom needs a makeover.

Now that it seems I have a rather large rodent living in the master bedroom, I have been detecting odors that I had not really anticipated in the upstairs. It is pretty bad having roommates leaving food rotting in their room and this furry creature seems to be doing something similar - if not worse. The attic is right over the master bath and I fear the little rodent has been storing something there that has a tendency to ripen - or I might even say “go bad.” This morning I stumbled on the Transform Your Home contest. A sign from above (I am not talking about the squirrel!)? A $20,000 cash sign that there is a great deal of potential still in that poor master bedroom and especially the bathroom.

Surely, I should be a contender in this contest! I wrote up a quick description about my habitat for an uninvited guest, kept it under 250 words, described why the space needs a makeover, uploaded a quick photo of the area that needed a makeover and how Renuzit® TriScents™ can help. Be sure to follow the official rules. Oh yeah - you can do a video also - which might be easier for some folks.

Starting May 8, go back and browse the entry gallery. Vote for my submission - I need to transform the bedroom and master bath into a habitat for my next renter and evict the squirrel!
